Anthère is a collaboration between Nod Hill Brewery and Kent Falls Brewing. The beer was designed and brewed by Kat Michaud (they/them, Nod Hill) and Cameron Ecay (he/him, Kent Falls), with the mission of both connecting and drawing due attention to transgender, non-binary, & gender-fluid folks in the brewing industry. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Anthère will be donated to local organizations/funds that directly support LGBTQ+ people by providing gender affirming & community care.

Anthère was dosed with herbs and flowers (raspberry leaf and stag-horn sumac) we foraged ourselves on premise at Kent Falls' farm and lightly dry-hopped with the French Alsatian hop Aramis. The name Anthère comes from the French etymology of the word anther, which is the part of the stamen that contains pollen in a flower. We still use male and female in plant anatomy to describe reproductive organs even though plants and their complicated and ever-changing evolutionary success has long pre-dated our current human definitions of gender.

May we all strive for our own ever-changing evolutionary success by building better communities and shifting our limited language around gender and our own potential for growth so we can all move forward together.

We hope you enjoy the beer, and please take the time to read & share the resources listed below - and, if it's within your means, to support them through a donation.
