OUR TEAM

DAVID KAYE

OPS MANAGER / FOUNDING PARTNER

CURRENT GO-TO BEER

I love traditional English cask ale. Whenever we have a bitter on the handpump you can find me posted up in the taproom with a pint glass in my hand.

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB

Being able to work closely with a team of passionate, intelligent & fun people. Sharing our beer and the taproom experience with our community. The constantly evolving nature of being part of a small business.

SECRET/NOT-SO-SECRET HOBBY

I play mandolin & dobro in a bluegrass band and run a small recording studio at my house. I love learning new things and have recently been teaching myself the piano.

FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT

My Place in Newtown - I've been going there for almost 15 years, and basically got a full education in beer styles, homebrewing & lots more from Mark the owner & all the friends I've gotten to know there over the years. Plus their pizza is excellent!

KYLE ACENOWR

HEAD BREWER / FOUNDING PARTNER

CURRENT GO-TO BEER

I’ve developed a pretty intense infatuation with lagers since we began brewing them about a year and a half ago. Right now our Festbier is occupying that space.

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB

A source of motivation for me is being apart of a team that is critical in its approach to problem-solving. Our growth individually and as a group has formed a positive feedback loop that makes for a great work environment.

SECRET/NOT-SO-SECRET HOBBY

I’ve been an angler since I was young and picked up fly fishing seriously this year. It's a great way to explore the northeast.

FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT

My regular bar is Spigot in Norwalk. Smith has put his touch on that place from top to bottom. Highly recommended. Plus my partner is the hot bartender.

SARAH ZITNAY

BOOKKEEPER / TAPROOM

Sarah is a lot of things to Nod Hill: taproom manager, bookkeeper, Dave's wife, beer name developer, Cicerone-certified server and all around spiritual guide. Early on, her calm steadfastness helped steer the course through the often difficult permitting, build-out, and development process, and her impeccable taste in beer has provided invaluable feedback and guidance as we've grown.

ROBERT KAYE

CFO & FOUNDING PARTNER

A seasoned executive and entrepeneur, Rob brings many years of experience developing, managing, and growing businesses in the construction, sports marketing, and entertainment industries. With Nod Hill Brewery, Rob couldn't be more excited to pair his business acumen with a product that he has a strong passion for.

My favorite styles of beer are mixed ferms and farmhouse sours. My go to beer from Nod Hill right now is Ace of Wands and Festbeir. My favorite from another brewery is Bellwood’s Barn Owl.

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB

I love my job at Nod. It’s physical and interesting and there’s always going to be something to learn. Brewing has been the most fun, challenging, and enjoyable job I’ve ever had.

SECRET/NOT-SO-SECRET HOBBY

I try to keep busy with lots of things in the spare time. I’m a cook and love feeding the people I love. I am also a freelance illustrator and muralist and try to fill my time with my art whenever possible.

FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT

I love Mezon in Danbury. My partner and I regularly order from Mecha in New Haven, where we live, since Covid has started. And prior to Covid I spent a lot of time at Three Sheets!

EDDIE CARTER

TAPROOM & BIERGARTEN MANAGER /

NEW YORK SALES

CURRENT GO-TO BEER

Ace of Wands is my favorite Nod Hill beer.

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB

For me it’s absolutely getting to talk with our customers about our beer and having the opportunity to make sure their experience is the best it can be when coming to visit us.

SECRET/NOT-SO-SECRET HOBBY

I’ve been really into disc golf recently, I’ve played every week for the past couple months. As for a secret talent, I’ve played the viola for about 20 years. I haven’t kept up with it as much since college but music will always be a passion of mine.

FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT

House of Yoshida in Bethel is one of my personal favorites

RY OMASTA

CELLARMAN / TAPROOM SERVER

CURRENT GO-TO BEER

In general I'm a fan of darker beer styles and Kyle and Kat always do an awesome job with those. Definitely excited for Evening Routine to come back. Right now I really love our latest batch of Ace of Wands with CT hops.

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB

It might mean that certain beers are only available once in a while, but I like how our beer list is constantly changing week to week. There's always something new for people to try. With the new expansion to the brewing setup there's even more to look forward to.

SECRET/NOT-SO-SECRET HOBBY

I love the outdoors so skiing, hiking and camping are the ways I get the most out of all the seasons. It's a beautiful country we live in so I like to do some photography wherever I go as well.

FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT

Some of my favorite local restaurants are Minas Carne and Kibberia in Danbury. Great Brazilian and Middle Eastern food if you're in the area!

JAMES

TAPROOM SERVER

CURRENT GO-TO BEER

I really enjoy any kind of beer that I know took the brewer a good deal of time and passion to create.  Not that I have anything against an IPA--some of them are delicious.  And I enjoy the complexity of many a dark style--porters, browns, Belgians, etc.  My basement is full of bottles of barrel-aged stouts that I'm looking for excuses to open up.

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB

At the risk of sounding cliché, the best part of working at Nod Hill is being able to interact with an awesome customer base.  But I truly mean it.  Since COVID, I miss working the taproom on Thursday nights and conversing with our regulars about beer, politics, and life, while jamming out to some great tunes from our talented local musicians.  As someone who is relatively new to working in the service industry, it has been a true pleasure to serve beer to you fantastic folks.

SECRET/NOT-SO-SECRET HOBBY

I'm halfway decent at throwing darts, and used to play regularly in bar leagues around Stamford.

FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT

I very much enjoy Coals Pizza in Port Chester, NY.  They consistently have a nicely curated taplist, and as they are one of our accounts, you can sometimes enjoy a Nod Hill beer on draft!

KRISTI

TAPROOM SERVER

CURRENT GO-TO BEER

My favorite beer is First There Is A Mountain. I really enjoy all of Nod Hill's IPA/DIPA styles.

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB

I love interacting and getting to know the customers. I also enjoy working with a  great group of people and having the chance to expand my beer knowledge.

SECRET/NOT-SO-SECRET HOBBY

Mountain biking.

FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT

The Green Granary in New Milford.

KATELYN

TAPROOM SERVER

CURRENT GO-TO BEER

Sound Chaser (or any of our hoppy pale ales).

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB

I love the connection we have with the community and the collaborations we get to do with local businesses and organizations.

SECRET/NOT-SO-SECRET HOBBY

Running!! I’ve completed four half marathons and trying to work my way to a full.

FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT

850 Degrees in Ridgefield.

CHRIS

TAPROOM SERVER

CURRENT GO-TO BEER

So I have always been obsessed with IPAs and I've been happy to see the move from more West Coast styles to the New England style IPAs. Currently my favorite beer is our Geobunny, I just can't get over how much beer can taste like a glass of fruit juice.

FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB

My favorite part about working at Nod Hill was getting to talk to all the customers and my fellow employees. I miss hanging out with the regulars and cracking jokes with my coworkers. I just love being around people and having a good time so this past year has been tough and I'm excited for things to get back to normal.

SECRET/NOT-SO-SECRET HOBBY

I have a lot of hobbies that I try to work on most days. During the summer I have been trying to Skate/ Longboard more and I recently got into Slacklining. I am excited for the winter so that I can go out and Snowboard once we get some snow. I also admitedly watch too much TV which usually ends up being anime.

FAVORITE LOCAL SPOT

I actually grew up in Ridgefield and I have seen a lot of restaurants come and go over the years but the one place that's new on the block that I can't ever turn down is Red Rooster. Their beer list is pretty big (and usually has Nod Hill beers) and if you haven't tried the Blue Cheese, Arugula & Pear pizza I would highly recommend it. I also have to shout out Mannen for just being a great place.
